Highlights of CES 2022

Consumer Electronics Show is a trade show was adamant of holding the hybrid show with strong physical presences of the audience & presenters. Amid Omicron, few weeks before the conference multiple big giants has backed out from the presenter’s space. However, Google, Microsoft, AMD & Intel made modifications to the plans.

So, here are few highlights & eye-catching gadgets that are presented in the CES 2022.

1. A car which can change its colour in an instant

BMW has designed a car which can change its colours in an instant by using the electronic paper wrapped around the car. Now on BMW iX Flow relies on the black and white electronic paper to adjust the vehicle’s body from darker to brighter. It leverages same low-powered screen technology that e-book readers use; BMW iX Flow was showcased as a concept at CES 2022.

2. The gadget/tech giant wants to enter into mobility segment

Japan’s Sony group wants to enter into electric vehicle segment by spring 2022. The Vision-S sedan concept has been deducted by Sony in 2020 and has already been tested in public roads. The Vision-S 02 shared the architecture of original Vision-S 01 edition with 33 embedded sensors. Including Image sensors and solid-state light detection and Lidar sensors (range detection).


3. A humanoid with facial movements

Meet Ameca, the grey-faced humanoid robot developed by British company Engineered Arts has been unveiled at CES 2022. This robot has facial movements just like humans and can speak back to you.

Company says this robot even gets annoyed when it has nose pocked and pushes the persons hand away. Ameca can perform face detection through the cameras placed in its eyes and can see the face of person talking to them and can talk back by locking on to the specific person.

4. A technology company that designed a smart desk for gamers

Razer’s latest concept piece is a wild gaming PC desk concept named as “Project Sophia”.

Razer is known to bring its strong PC gaming prototype to CES. Lat year w have seen modular desktops and laptops, pop-out touchpads, triple-screen laptops. In CES 2022, Razer bought a gaming desk concept with abilities to swap components and features as needed. The desk has a massive 65-inch OLED display which support up to 13 swappable modules with its own built-in Intel processor & Nvidia GPU and add-on like audio modules, touchscreen digitizers, cameras and microphone can be swapped into Sophia.

5. World’s first foldable Laptop

We have already seen the mobile makers has launched their foldable screen technology-based mobiles. This year in CES 2022 we got Foldable laptop that allows users to fold the OLED laptop screen.

Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED foldable laptop features a 17.3-inch screen that can be folded into a 12.5-inch screen with 2,560x1,920 pixel resolution, 5000nits of peak brightness and a 0.2ms response time. Asus says the hinge has been tested for 30,000 cycles of durability. Under the hood the machine is equipped with 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor clocked at 1.7GHz and paired with Iris Xe Graphics coupled with 16GB of RAM. The laptop also meets US MIL-STD 810H military-grade standard as per Asus.

6. A new VR Controller with OLED Display headset

Sony shared the official name of its next-gen virtual reality headset and VR controllers for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) and PlayStation VR2 Sense controller are now official.

PlayStation VR2 offer OLED HDR displays sporting 4K resolution (2,000x2,040 pixels per eye) with a 110-degree field of view. Frame rates will be hover between 90/120Hz. PS VR2 will support eye tracking that Sony believes “allows players to interact more intuitively in new and lifelike ways.”

7. A new desktop processor in the market

Intel announced its game changing desk processor in the market named Intel Core i9-12900KS. The 12th Gen Intel Core ‘Alder Lake' CPU offers a 5.5GHz boost clock speed on a single core. The new Intel Core i9-12900KS is also capable of functioning at 5.2GHz on all cores while performing heavy multi-core tasks, according to the company.

The new processor sports eight performance cores and eight efficiency cores. The new 12th Gen Core i9-12900KS offers up to 40 percent higher performance generation-on-generation, according to the company.

8. Biggest OLED TV ever (97”)

LG unveiled its 2022 range of OLED TV models, including the new LG G2, C2, B2, and A2. Each of these come in different sizes.

The LG G2 is the flagship 4K OLED TV model for 2022 it features an updated OLED Evo panel capable of reaching higher peak brightness with a heatsink for the panel. The heatsink pulls heat away from the panel, making it run brighter and also reduce image retention as the panel cools down. With these advances, LG claims the G2 is its brightest OLED TV yet.

9. Smart TV Models to Come with NFT Buying

The South Korean tech giant Samsung has introduced world’s first TV screen with NFT explorer and marketplace aggregator. This TV will allow people to browse NFTs for sale and even buy them. NFTs are digital collectibles based on movies, games, or artworks, transferred to and locked on a blockchain network.

Users will be allowed to preview these NFTs as well as read about its creator and the story behind the pieces.

10. A global TV manufacturer challenging Meta and Apple

TCL, a value-priced TV manufacturer is now entering lenses segment by launching its own AR smart glasses. It is only a prototype for now, TCL concept smart glasses blends AR & VR elements that looks similar to other tech giants.


These smart glasses are showed being used to dial into video meeting, display directions over surroundings etc., in a teaser video. These glasses include a binocular micro-LED colour display that showcases information and images.
